Welcome to the NICKPMU demo !
NICKPMU is the restricted user version of NICKPM.
NICKPM is a powerful tool enabling automated process launch and control in
and OS/2 2.0 environment ( with or without a LAN or other machine-to-machine
connections ).
NICKPM is particulary suitable for controlling development environments and
scheduling production activities.
The operating procedures are written in a source language and will be compiled
to an executable. About 80 keywords are available in this language. A selection
of entities controlling a NICK session are:
- Control settings
- Loop mode
- Step mode
- Pass ending conditions
- Title
- Object types:
- Prologue
- Files
- Independent
- Time dependent
- Epilogue
- Dependencies, which can be nested and have mutual logical conditions
(AND OR XOR ) do control the actual execution of actions related to an
object:
- Time
- Files
- Timestamp
- Existence and non-existence
- Archived
- Read-only
- Flags
- Status of running processes
- Retun codes of processes
- Actions
- Run
- Execute
- Start an OS/2 session ( synchronous or a synchronous )
- Change icon
- Messaging and prompting
- Wait
- Synchronize running processes
- Wait for a process to end
- Set/reset flags
- Change operation mode
- Terminate and abort
NICKPMU has all the options of NICKPM except:
- Online script compilation
- Dynamic replacement of keywords from a NICKNAME database
To install and run the demo:
- Verify that your system is running under OS/2 version 2.0
- Create a directory where your demo software is to be installed.
- If you received the demo on diskette:
- Copy all files from the diskette into the directory
e.g. COPY /b A:\*.* <directory>
Do not forget the /b switch as most files are in binary format !
- If you downloaded NICKPM.ZIP from a BBS:
- Copy the files after unzipping.
- Open the file NICKDEMO.NSC with some editor to know what the demo is
about and how to use the options.
- If your LIBPATH statement contains: . (current directory in path to DLL)
switch to the selected directory.
or:
Add the directory to: LIBPATH and PATH in your CONFIG.SYS and reboot
your system.
- Set the environment variables NICKSOURCE and NICKTARGET to the
appropiate values.
- If needed: supply NET USE statement(s) to access server directories
- Start the demo by: NICKPMU NICKDEMO or NICKPMU /start NICKDEMO
Notes:
- The files on diskette or after unzipping are:
NICKPMU.EXE Executable
OSTIME.DLL Dynamic link libraries
OSFILE.DLL
OSDIR.DLL
OSSESS.DLL
OSLOG.DLL
NICKTREE.DLL
NICKEXEC.DLL
NICKDEMO.NSC Script file sample
NICKDEMO.NEX Compiled script file
